For term life, critical illness and similar covers, insurers accept everyone up to the free cover limit on the strength of the group alone. Above it, an employee must declare their health, and the insurer may accept, add conditions or decline the extra cover.
The limit depends on the insurer and usually rises with the size of the group. Among the plans in our calculator, health declarations apply above S$150,000 or S$200,000 of term life and above S$100,000 of critical illness, depending on the insurer.
